1. Clothing products
Clothing has always been the focus of government market supervision. In 2018, the State Administration for Market Supervision organized more than a dozen supervision and spot checks on consumer products, and all of them were spot-checked on clothing products.
The unqualified items detected in clothing products are mainly: pH value, fiber content, tensile strength of accessories (children and infant clothing products), rope requirements (children and infant clothing products).
2. Footwear products
Like clothing, footwear products are also the focus of government market spot checks. In 2018, a total of 331 batches of footwear products were selected in the product quality supervision and random inspection organized by the State Administration for Market Supervision, of which 90 batches of leather shoe products were selected with a failure rate of 25.6%.
The unqualified items detected in footwear products are mainly: the peel strength of the upper sole, the folding resistance of the finished shoe, the abrasion resistance of the outsole, the total content of azo, formaldehyde, and heavy metals.
3. Toy products
The list of defective products released by the Guangdong Provincial Market Supervision Bureau in January this year contains 264 products in 13 categories, of which 42 are toys, accounting for 16%. Toys are indispensable products in children's growth and life, and their product quality and safety will always be the focus of government, enterprises and consumers.
The unqualified items detected in toy products are mainly: small parts, protrusions, plastic bags or plastic films, ropes and elastic ropes, and plasticizers.
4. Student stationery
The State Administration for Market Regulation recently released the "2019 Work Plan for Children and Student Supplies Safety Guarding Action", one of its focus is on student stationery. The work plan pointed out that it is necessary to focus on checking writing stationery such as markers, art stationery such as watercolor pens, adhesive stationery such as solid glue, correction stationery such as erasers, and school books.
The work plan requires the focus on checking the chemical hazards of student stationery: benzene series, migrable elements, and free formaldehyde.
5. Disposable hygiene products
The recent media reports on the production of disposable sanitary products such as diapers by some companies using moldy and discarded "bulk pulp" have caused widespread concern about the quality and safety of disposable sanitary products. The State Administration for Market Regulation recently issued a notice on further strengthening the supervision and inspection of the quality and safety of daily-use plastic products, children's toys, and disposable sanitary products, requiring local market supervision administrations to pay attention to the supervision and inspection of these products.
